IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION.
There are several important things to note.
1. The price is firm for knobs that are in excellent condition. I do accept offers, and here’s how that works. I grade these as either A, A-, or B+. I don’t refurbish things below B+. “A” means excellent antique condition with very minor wear, perhaps a tiny chip or scratch that is not easily noticed, and the price is firm on those. “A-” means minor wear with a scratch or chip, and I can accept offers on those. B+ has a couple small scratches or chips, and I can accept offers on those. Basically, you get what you pay for, and I don’t sell anything that has significant, or highly noticeable damage. Once installed, even the B+ knobs will display very well, as most people aren’t getting really up close and inspecting them.
2. I know a lot of people think these are one size fits all. That’s not the case. Antique glass knobs have different base diameters. The base of the knob is what fits into the
rosette, backplate, or escutcheon that you have. If you don’t have rosettes or backplates I do sell them, as well as all the other hardware that goes with antique doors, such as mortise locks and skeleton keys. Contact me for details. I cannot be responsible for a knob that doesn’t fit your hardware if you don’t let me know the necessary dimensions.
3. I have sold hundreds of these knobs, so instead of taking new photos every time I refurbish a house set, I just use the photos from my original listing. So the photos are just an example of what you will get, not the exact knobs.
The knobs you will receive will be authentic antique door knobs of similar quality and appearance. If you purchase more than one pair, I will do my best to make sure all the knobs are a matching set. If it’s a large order, some may not be exactly matching, but they will be as close as I can get. Once installed the small differences will be hard to notice.
4. Why buy from me? When I go through a house set of antique glass door knobs, I remove all those with major cosmetic issues, such as large chips, numerous scratches, etc. Typically that takes out around 35% or more of the set. The remaining pairs are what I refurbish. Note, they are antique, so there may be some small cosmetic issues, such as small chips and scratches, but I don’t sell ones that have obvious damage. This ensures the knobs you will receive are in good cosmetic condition, and fully functional. When you buy from other sellers you’re most likely getting a mix of knobs with cosmetic issues and repair needs, and you might not even be buying quality antique knobs at all. M
ost people on Ebay aren’t experts in glass door knobs. I often see modern reproduction glass door knobs being described as antique glass door knobs because the seller doesn’t know and apparently neither do the buyers
